ALBUQUERQUE, NM—On Jan. 30, a fire was reported at the Lake Marvin recreation area of the Black Kettle Ranger District of the Cibola National Forest and National Grasslands. The fire destroyed the structure known as Cabin No. 2.

Canadian High School’s track-and-field teams made a superb medal haul from last weekend’s Region I-3A meet at Abilene Christian University. In total, the Lady Cats and Wildcats combined to qualify two individuals on the girls’ side and the boys’ 1600-meter relay team for competition at the UIL Class 3A state track meet, which will be held in Austin’s Mike A.

Canadian High School’s Lady Cat softball team ended its regular season with a 16-4 loss to River Road last Thursday at home. The Lady Cats were unable to pull themselves out of an early 6-0 hole after two innings, as River Road sustained the momentum.

The consolidated polling place in the CHS foyer will open at 7 am on Saturday for voters casting ballots in races for seats on the Hemphill County Hospital and Canadian ISD boards. Four candidates are vying for three open seats on the Hemphill County Hospital District board of directors.
