I am announcing my intention to seek re-election to the position of Precinct 2 County Commissioner.
I graduated in 1987 from Oklahoma State University where I met my wife, Betsy. We moved to Hemphill County in 1988 and opened Alexander’s Grocery and Deli. We have three grown children that were raised in Canadian and graduated from CISD.
“JR” Barnett, 65, of Higgins stepped into his heavenly home on Saturday, November 8, 2025, in Higgins with his co-driver, Tamara by his side.
Private family services will be held in the Higgins Cemetery. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian.
