On Tuesday, Aug. 16, the Canadian ISD board of trustees will conduct a public meeting to discuss the district’s 2022-23 budget, which will determine the tax rate that will be adopted. Members of the community are welcome to attend as well as to submit their comments, questions, and concerns.

County law enforcement staff face hazards every time they get behind the wheel at work. The Texas Association of Counties (TAC) is helping reduce those risks with its innovative driving simulator.

They call the impossibly complicated screen I am looking at a “dashboard,” which I do not find reassuring at all. It would be nice not to associate my ignorance of technology with crashing some out-of-control machine into a ravine; although, as I think about it, that is very much how it feels.
