Sophomore Connor Cipollone made history last week as the first Canadian High School student to qualify for the state UIL congressional debate competition.

Cipollone is among three students from Region 16 3A schools who qualified for the state-level competition, which will be held on Jan. 4, 2023, in Austin. Bushland’s August Vinson and Spearman’s Avren Delozier will also advance.

Pre-apprenticeship initiative launches in Texas, aligns with National Apprenticeship Week, Nov. 14–20

WASHINGTON—As the nation marks National Apprenticeship Week, the U.S. Department of Labor last week announced an initiative to expand its pre-apprenticeship opportunities for Job Corps students and connect them to registered apprenticeship programs.
