(AUSTIN) — Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced today he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.2 billion in local sales tax allocations for August, 2.8 percent more than in August 2022. These allocations are based on sales made in June by businesses that report tax monthly and on sales made in April, May and June by quarterly filers.

The Hemphill County Commissioners will hold a public hearing on at 9 am on Monday, August 14, to discuss and hear public comment on the proposed 2023-2024 fiscal year budget. AUSTIN —Last week, the Deputy Secretary of State Joe Esparza drew the ballot order for the 14 proposed amendments to the Texas Constitution.

Texans will vote on these amendments as a part of the November 7 Election. Below is the ballot order as drawn.

Proposition 1 – HJR 126 "The constitutional amendment protecting the right to engage in farming, ranching, timber production, horticulture, and wildlife management."
