Texans asked to conserve energy in heat wave
The agency that operates the power grid for much of the state asked Texans to conserve energy use several times last week as the grid was beset with high demand and low wind-power generation, according to the Austin American-Statesman.
The Electric Reliability Council of Texas has asked electric users to reduce energy use as the state continues to face a tenacious heat wave. 

The Amarillo Botanical Gardens is excited to announce exciting changes to our popular Breakfast with the Butterflies. The event is now A Day with the Butterflies. It is still breakfast in the Gardens with a butterfly release, but now includes art and children’s education, dozens of local vendors, live music, and food trucks in the afternoon! The Northeast Texas Panhandle Beef Conference will be hosted by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service on Sept. 7 at the Wolf Creek Heritage Museum in Lipscomb.

The program will begin at 1:30 p.m. Registration is $10 and payable at the door.
