Power restored to 97% of customers affected by Public Safety Power Shutoff, weather-related outages

AMARILLO—Xcel Energy crews have restored power to nearly all customers impacted by Tuesday’s Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) in the Texas Panhandle and weather-related outages across the area. As of 3:45 p.m. CT on Wednesday, 526 customers were still affected by outages amid ongoing restoration efforts. All Amarillo customers have been restored except those near the ongoing Lavender fire. Crews also continue to repair damage caused by severe weather.

George A. Snell III, 77, gained heaven on January 15, 2026, peacefully, with his wife by his side, a week after their 54th wedding anniversary.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Hillside Christian Church West Campus, 6100 S. Soncy. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

David Wheelock was born September 14, 1941, in Canadian, Texas. David married Janice Boden from Boulder, Colorado, in 1962. They moved to Colorado in 1964 and had lived in Boulder, Littleton, Westminster, and Longmont, Colorado.

David is preceded in death by his wife Janice (Boden) Wheelock, parents Allen and Benedicta Wheelock, Stepfather Rev. Francis Moore and granddaughter Nicole Wheelock.

Winona Stephenson, 89, of Booker passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2026 in Booker. 

Services will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at The River Ministries in Canadian with Pastor Donald Hill and Vicky Bragg officiating. Burial will follow in Edith Ford Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian.
