Fifty-three eighth-graders received diplomas Friday evening, signifying their graduation from Canadian Middle School. 

During Friday’s commencement ceremony, held in the high school gymnasium, Superintendent Julia McMaines presented Kaylee Richardson the 2025 Abraham Cup. The honor is based on leadership, citizenship, sportsmanship, and personality, as well as awards, honors and accomplishments during their 7th and 8th grade years. 

In announcing this year’s Abraham Cup honoree, Dr. McMaines noted Richardson’s many accomplishments. As a seventh-grader, Kaylee was in the top 10, participated in UIL, Cheer, Basketball, Softball, Cross-Country and Track. She placed first in three District UIL Academic events, was the seventh-grade Student Council representative, completed 20 or more hours of community service, was on the A honor roll, received the outstanding C Award in Algebra and the Go-Getter Award. 

As an eighth-grader, Kaylee was in the top 10, participated in Cheer, UIL, Basketball, Softball, Cross-Country and Track, placed in four District UIL Academic events, was a senior Senate officer, completed 20 or more community service hours, was on the A honor roll, and received the outstanding C Award in Algebra and the Go-Getter Award. The 2024-25 Abraham Cup is also the class valedictorian.

Kaylee is the daughter of Kris and Brooke Richardson.
