Travis Macias announces candidacy for HCHD board of directors
Travis Macias, Candidate
Hemphill County Hospital District Board of Directors
Rural healthcare is one of the most important resources a community can have, and I’ve seen firsthand how critical it is through my work as a volunteer firefighter. When someone calls 911, they’re often experiencing one of the worst moments of their life, and having access to quality emergency care can make all the difference. That’s why it’s so important that we have a well-equipped, top-of-the-line ambulance service right here in our community. Our EMS teams are the first line of defense in saving lives, and we need to make sure they have the resources, training, and equipment necessary to do their jobs effectively.
Beyond emergency care, I’m also passionate about maintaining top-tier assisted living and nursing home facilities. I’ve had family members in these types of care, and I know how much it means to families to have a place where their loved ones are treated with dignity, respect, and high-quality medical attention. These facilities aren’t just services—they’re lifelines for our elderly and those in need of long-term care, and we have a responsibility to keep them operating at the highest standards.
Healthcare is something that affects all of us, and we’re stronger when we work together. If we have the ability to share our resources—whether it’s expertise, equipment, or emergency services—with other communities that need them, then we should. A strong healthcare system isn’t just about one town or one hospital; it’s about ensuring the best possible care for as many people as we can. That’s why I’m running for the Hemphill County Hospital Board. I want to do my part in making sure our hospital, our ambulance service, and our long-term care facilities remain strong, well-funded, and capable of serving our community for generations to come. It takes all of us working together to build a better future, and I’m ready to step up and do my part.
