Canadian opened the UIL Class 3A Division II playoffs looking like a team on a mission, absolutely destroying last year’s regional champion, Lubbock Roosevelt, 70-8, last Thursday at Happy State Bank Stadium in Canyon.

The Wildcats improve to 9-2 overall and are now headed to the area round, where they will take on the Early Longhorns (7-4) at 7 pm on Friday night on Leo Brittain Field at Lions Stadium in Vernon.

Manny Ramsey: Former Wildcat defensive back goes the extra yard for Fort Hays State

Body

Former Canadian Wildcat Manny Ramsey recently wrapped up his very successful playing career at Fort Hays State last Saturday against Pittsburg State (Kansas). Ramsey’s team fell 35-14 to a very talented Pitt squad, and Ramsey’s final stat from that contest was a solo catch for 7 yards. However, that comes nowhere close to signifying his contribution to the program.

Ramsey will go down as one of the best leaders and players to ever put on a Fort Hays State Tiger uniform.

In 2017, Manny Ramsey traded in his Wildcat black and gold for the Hays State Tigers’ black and gold. In this photo, by Allie Schweizer, Ramsey (No. 6) pulls down a pass and scrambles for yardage, a skill that has earned him first-team wide receiver honors on the Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletics Association All-Conference Team during his final year of collegiate play.
