JV CATS The Junior Varsity Wildcats put on a show for the hometown crowd Thursday evening, dispatching the Spearman Lynx in short order by holding them scoreless in all four quarters, racking up a substantial 41-point firsthalf lead, and icing it with a final TD in the third period.

LADY CATS The Lady Cats Cross-Country team had another great week, claiming second-place overall in Spearman on Saturday, at what Coach Aaron Marks said was “a very competitive meet.” Gruver’s Lady Greyhounds edged Canadian by four points to take first. However, Konnar McClendon won her fourth title of the year, finishing the course first overall, while her teammate, Arionna Black, followed her across the finish line to place second in what Marks called “her best race of the year.” Two other Lady Cats ran strong races, as well.

Reinhardt to compete Oct. 14-16 in Prairie Circuit Finals Canadian barrel racer Tamara Reinhardt has qualified again for the PRCA Ram Prairie Circuit Finals Rodeo, which will be held next Thursday through Saturday, Oct.

Only a sophomore, Flowers has quickly established himself as a go-to weapon for Head Coach Chris Koetting, thanks to his aggressive and physical style of play. “Luke has been a game-changer for us,” Koetting said. “He’s the complete package. He can run, catch it out of the backfield. He is fast, and such a dynamic playmaker for us.”

The Canadian Lady Cat cross-country team had an extemely successful showing at the Lubbock ISD Cross-Country Invitational at Mae Simmons Park last Saturday. In what was more of a regional showcase, the Lady Cats finished second in the Class 3A Division, totaling 94 points.

Canadian’s Youth Football League Wildcats blanked both the 3rd- and 4th-grade and 5th- and 6th-grade Shamrock teams two weeks ago on Saturday, Sept. 18, in games played here at Wildcat Stadium. The 3rd and 4th Cats won 40-0, while the 5th and 6th Cats shut down Shamrock 56-0. Canadian hosted Wellington in last Saturday’s games here, and again, dominated their opponents. The 3rd and 4th Cats blanked Wellington 28-0, while the 5th and 6th team racked up a 38-6 win.

Fresh off a much-needed bye week, the Canadian Wildcats shift their attention to the district portion of their schedule when the No. 5-ranked Cats open league play against Spearman at 7 pm Friday night at Lynx Stadium.

The Canadian Wildcats managed to block the memory of the previous week’s gut-wrenching loss to Bushland with a stellar offensive showing during a 51-28 victory against rival Perryton on Friday at Ranger Stadium.
