Mesa View Senior Living flagpole is dedicated Friday

Welcome Mesa View residents and staff, family, visitors, and members of American Legion Post 56. Thank you for being here.

American flags and flagpoles are so common that we often take them for granted. They are as common as, well, apple pie and football. They are so common that a recent visitor to the United States complained that American flags cluttered up the scenery and observed that in her country seeing a national flag was a rarity.

Comptroller distributes $1.2 billion in monthly sales tax revenue to local governments

(AUSTIN) — Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced today he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.2 billion in local sales tax allocations for November, 1.9 percent more than in November 2022. These allocations are based on sales made in September by businesses that report tax monthly and on sales made in July, August and September by quarterly filers.

American Legion Post 56 to dedicate flagpole at Mesa View Complex Friday afternoon

Members of the American Legion Zybach-Owens Post 56 met at the Mesa View Complex on Saturday afternoon, October 28, for a project to install a refurbished flagpole.

Warren Rivers, Jason Bradford, and Alfred Godino used a North Plains Electric Coop bucket truck to remove the pole from its location at the former nursing home site. Rivers repaired and repainted it.

Ken King Seeks re-election as HD88 State Representative

Chairman Ken King announced this week that he intends to run for the seat he currently holds representing 19 counties in the Texas Panhandle, South Plains, and the Permian Basin. Chairman King was first elected to the Texas House in 2012 and has had a highly successful run representing the hard-working Texans of House District 88.

It has been an honor to serve the people of Hemphill County and Precinct 1 since January 2017. I have enjoyed working with the other commissioners and county judge to make the best decisions possible for our citizens.
