Wildcat JV, CMS Cats stage trio of wins over Friona

JUNIOR VARSITY The Canadian Wildcat junior varsity fended off the Friona Chieftains for three quarters while they built up a daunting 35-0 lead. By the time Friona got into the end zone— twice, in the final period—it was too little, and much too late, and the Cats loaded up the buses, carrying a 35-14 win.

Running for Regionals

The Canadian girls and boys cross country teams are set to compete at the Region I-3A cross country meet at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock on Monday. The Lady Cats will run at 2 p.m., followed by the Wildcats at 2:30 p.m.

The Wildcat JV put Dimmitt away in the first half of last Thursday’s showdown, running up a formidable 40-zip lead and icing it with a final 6 in the fourth quarter. The Cats posted 276 total yards on offense, and the defense did the rest—forcing five turnovers, recovering three fumbles, an onside kick, and picking off a pass. Dimmitt had negative yards rushing, and only 16 total yards on offense.
