Sixty Canadian High School seniors receive diplomas in Saturday graduation ceremonies

Canadian High School valedictorian Pamela Escarcega was presented the coveted Liske Cup at the culmination to last Saturday’s 2022 graduation commencement ceremonies at Wildcat Stadium. Escarcega is the 93rd CHS senior to receive the Liske Cup, which is named after Texas Panhandle pioneer Albert Paul Liske, who settled in Canadian in 1904 and became one of the young communities’ movers and shakers, founding the Liske Grain Company and becoming prominent in the grain business in the Eastern Panhandle.

Memorial Day service to be held Monday at Edith Ford Cemetery

Canadian’s annual Memorial Day service will be held at 11 am on Monday, May 30, at Edith Ford Cemetery. As is traditional, the service will be conducted by American Legion Post 56. In the event of inclement weather, the service will be moved to the Jones Pavilion.

‘The Fight Goes On’ Scholarship Golf Tournament tees off June 4 at the Canadian Golf Course “The Fight Goes On” Scholarship Golf Tournament will be held at the Canadian Golf Course on Saturday, June 4. The four-person, 18-hole scramble has been held here every year since 2015 on the first Saturday in June, and has earned a reputation for being “the fun tournament,” rather than the serious one.
