CHS Senior Emily Kauk was crowned 2022 Homecoming Queen during halftime at Friday night’s Canadian Wildcat vs Perryton Rangers game. Members of this year’s CHS Homecoming Court and their escorts were Leah Moreno with father Lucio Moreno, Emily Kauk with father Brett Kauk, Clara Pulliam with father Lynn Pulliam, Kathy Aragon with father Luis Aragon, Alexa Escarcega with father Jose Escarcega, and Brianna Angillon with Osvaldo Dominguez. The game was preceded by a Homecoming Tailgate with a custom-smoked barbecue pulled pork meal, hosted by the Canadian Educaton Foundation. All proceeds from Friday’s gates went to the CEF to fund student scholarships and innovative teacher grants.

All signs are go for this weekend’s the Canadian River Beach Club’s 14th Annual Calf Fry and Barbeque Cook-Off at Canadian’s Jones Pavilion on Saturday. The weather is expected to be sunny, with temperatures topping out around 94, and a light 5-10 mph wind out of the south/ southwest, just perfect to keep the cook fires burning.

Running at the Lubbock ISD Invitational is as close to a Region I preview as possible during the regular season. By that measure, the Canadian Lady Cat cross-country team put themselves on the map as serious contenders with a second-place team finish in the Class 3A Division on Saturday afternoon at Mae Simmons Park.

In their second consecutive contest against the Perryton Rangers, the CMS eighth-grade Wildcats (0-2) showed both determination and progress, battling this time to a 30-14 loss in front of the hometown crowd.
