Lubbock, Texas May 16, 2023 — A Wetland Reserve Enhancement Partnership (WREP) project has been selected to target conservation easement and restoration in the Texas playa lakes of the Panhandle and South Plains regions for $1.5 million in funding.
(AUSTIN) — Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar is reminding families and businesses that they can save on the purchase of certain water- and energy-efficient products during the state’s Water-Efficient Products and ENERGY STAR® sales tax holidays.
The holidays, created by the Texas Legislature, both take place Saturday, May 27, through Monday, May 29. The Texas Comptroller's office estimates shoppers will save $14.3 million in state and local sales tax.

It’s official. Fort Hood, named for a high-ranking Confederate officer in the Civil War, has been renamed Fort Cavazos, in honor of native Texan Richard E. Cavazos, the country’s first Hispanic four-star general.
