Tanya Holloway is Distinguished Service Award honoree

Tanya Holloway, Hemphill County Agrilife Family & Consumer Science Agent, received a Distinguished Service Award presented August 1 at the 2023 Texas Association of Extension 4-H Youth Development Professionals Conference. The event was held near Houston at Kema, Texas.

Holloway was one of three County Extension Agents statewide selected for this award, including Lorrie Coop, a District Extension Administrator in the Rolling Plains, and Megan Shaffer, a District 8 Extension Program Specialist & Youth Development.

Child care centers closing across state

An unprecedented number of child care centers are expected to close across the state as pandemic relief funding ends, the Texas Standard reported. A survey conducted by the Texas Association for the Education of Young Children of about 1,600 child care programs indicated 44% were likely to close their doors without additional funding. Federal pandemic relief funds ended for most centers in June.
