CANYON, Texas — West Texas A&M University’s official ambassadors of cheer will make their 2023-24 debut at the home opener football game Sept. 9.

AMARILLO—Panhandle Breast Health (PBH) will host the Third Annual Tee Off for Tatas Golf Tournament at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, at Comanche Trail Golf Course. The tournament is open to all golfers of all skill levels and will benefit PBH, a local organization providing breast cancer screenings to uninsured residents of the Texas Panhandle.

David Wayne Cleveland, 80, of Canadian went to his heavenly home Tuesday, September 5, 2023, in Canadian.  

Services will be at 3 pm on Saturday, September 9, at the First Baptist Church in Canadian, with Pastor Bob Bynum, pastor of Locust Grove Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Edith Ford Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian.

The Wildcat Varsity cross-country team competed in Borger High School’s “Jeep Webb” cross-country meet Saturday, and finished second as a team overall in a field of 73 runners. The meet was held at the Borger Bulldog Stadium.

Canadian’s C.J. Jimenez led the charge, finishing the 3-mile run 5th in 17:41. Joseph Dominguez was 12th in 18:33; Juan Vargas 14th in 18:42; and Anderson Perkins 16th in 18:50. Coleman Perkins was 27th in 19:44, Lino Lugo 28th in19:51, Logan Urschel 39th in 20:13, Jose Vargas 58th in 22:02, and Easton Galla 61st in 22:41.
