Panhandle Wildlife Conference Returns to Lubbock Oct. 20, 21

LUBBOCK – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD), the Department of Natural Resources Management at Texas Tech University and the Texas Wildlife Association are hosting the Panhandle Wildlife Conference Oct. 20-21 at Texas Tech University’s National Ranching Heritage Center in Lubbock.

The conference will be the first of its kind since the 1990s and will explore the diverse landscape and wildlife of the Texas Panhandle, a region rich in both history and natural resources.

Amarillo Museum of Art presents ‘Critical Mass’

The term “Critical Mass” means the smallest amount of fissionable material that, when amassed, will sustain a self-supporting chain reaction. CRITICAL MASS was a collaborative photo/text/video installation that takes as its subject the worlds of scientists and Native Americans as they intersected at the home of Edith Warner during the making of the first atomic bomb in 1944 in Los Alamos, New Mexico.

Gov. Greg Abbott has called a third special session, this time about school choice, for next month. He is promising retribution for lawmakers who oppose his move to enact school vouchers in Texas, the Texas Tribune reported.
