NOTICE IS HEREBY PROVIDED TO THE RESIDENTS OF CANADIAN INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT that, pursuant to Texas Education Code Section 11.1541, the Canadian Independent School District Board of Trustees will hold a public hearing concerning the possible donation of real property to the Higgins-Lipscomb Hospital District, a political subdivision of the State of Texas.

The property being considered for donation was formerly used as the Higgins ISD kindergarten building and ag shop, located in Higgins, Texas and is more particularly described as follows:

In accordance with United States Code (USC) Annotated, Title 20, Chapter 70, Subchapter IX, Part C, Section 7846, and Public Law (P.L.) 114-95, Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), Section 8306, any applicant, other than a state educational agency that submits a plan or application under this chapter or act shall afford a reasonable opportunity for public comment on the application and consider such comment.

GOP legislators unveil redistricting map as Dems flee

Texas Democrats left the state Sunday in hopes of derailing a mid-decade redistricting plan, The Dallas Morning News reported.

State Rep. Gene Wu, D-Houston, announced the Democrats had left the state to break the quorum and stymie a vote in that chamber.

Local citizens invited to weigh in on City Hall renovation in public forum

Body

A called City Council meeting will be held at 5:30 pm this Wednesday, July 30, to receive public comment on the proposed renovation of the City Hall and Municipal Auditorium, as well as possible alternative sites and use of the Visitors’ Center, and a potential bond election.

The forum will include an introduction by Mayor Terrill Bartlett, and presentations by the Project Architect, City Staff and Bond Financial Advisors.
