It’s the season for all things scary, and I found myself wondering how many people are actually looking for more things to frighten them this year. There is a new horror movie about Zoom that is supposed to be terrific … and I won’t be watching it.

Fall Foliage Festival 2020

Near perfect weather was the icing on the cake for this year’s jubilant Fall Foliage Festival. The legions of visitors who always flock to this corner of the Panhandle every third weekend in October in search of the elusive turning of fall foliage, once again arrived in droves. Canadian’s colorful canopy of cottonwoods created the perfect ambiance to welcome guests to our own celebration of the season.

Rotary: North to Alaska

In June of 2019, the Dumbauld family knocked off an item that had been on their bucket list since before their marriage. They took an eight-day trip to Alaska to fish and sightsee, and fish they did! In their tour package, each person was allotted 50 pounds of fish to take home.

INGREDIENTS: 1/2 cup dried rice vermicelli 8 rice paper wrappers, dried 16 shrimp, cooked 16 basil leaves 16 basil leaves 1/4 cup cilantro leaves 1 cup lettuce leaves, chopped 1/4 cup mint leaves 1 carrot, grated 1 tablespoon lime zest, grated PREPARATION: Place wrapper into hot water until pliable. With moist hands, place wrapper on damp tea towel.

Have a pound of ground meat and want a quick and deliciously different dish to serve your family? Tina shared this recipe with me, and I love that it is not your typical hamburger stir-fry. Raisins, black beans, olives, allspice, and cumin give this dish a distinctive flair. Enjoy!
