What’s Cookin’s in Canadian: Smoked Trout Pasta with Cream Sauce

Body
This recipe from Feast TV host Cat Neville is so delicious and elegant, your family and friends will definitely want seconds. You can use either smoked trout or smoked salmon. The smokiness of the fish blends beautifully with the pasta and cream sauce. You won’t believe how easy it is to make this dish. If you’re feeling your inner Julia Child, add more wine, butter, cream, and or smoked fish if you want. I find myself adding a bit more of this and that, because I love the boldness of all the flavors together. TINA JAROSEK

DAR Chapter meets

Body
Remelle Farrar was the guest speaker recently at the monthly luncheon of the Comancheria Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, held in the WCTU Library meeting room. Farrar spoke on the Red River Wars of 1874, of which several battles were fought in our local area. This war is labeled as the most important war that is never remembered, and is one that changed history—not only in this state, but also nationally. While much is known about the individual battles, Farrar provided insight into the economic and political reasons for the war, as well as the ramifications and results of the aftermath for these battles.

To many of us in this area, barbed wire is a common sight. It’s a relatively inexpensive fencing wire constructed with sharp edges or points arranged at intervals along the strands. Did you know barbed wire started a war and is known to be the invention that tamed the West?
