Body

Lynda “JoAnn” Brewster, 80, of Canadian, passed away on January 9, 2024, in Canadian.

Memorial services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at First Christian Church of Canadian, with Rev. Matt Cook, pastor, and Scott King officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian.

JoAnn was born January 1, 1944, in Wheeler to Leeroy and Ethel Boone. She attended schools in Sunray and later obtained her GED. Once she completed her education, she enrolled in Exposito School of Hair Design. JoAnn began her long career as a hairdresser in Canadian. Over the years, JoAnn learned so much about people’s families, as she was a great listener. She also wasn’t afraid to give her advice and say what was on her mind. Her kind and jolly spirit was radiant to anyone who knew her. JoAnn was a longtime member of the TOPS Club and was a Meals on Wheels volunteer. Her hobbies included painting, bird watching, and stargazing. Often, she would take her grandchildren out late at night just to look at the stars. JoAnn loved the title as “Gangie” from her four grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Albert Boone and Boog Leeroy Boone.

Survivors include her two sons, Scott Brewster and wife Aleathea of Canadian and Joe Brent Brewster of Big Spring; daughter-in-law, Tanya Brewster of Lake Charles, Louisiana; sister, Nell Cooper of Dumas; four grandchildren, Ethan Brewster of Amarillo, Maddie Jo Brewster of Canadian, Zachary Brewster and Jacob Brewster both of Lake Charles, Louisiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.
