This community’s annual Memorial Day service will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, May 25, at Edith Ford Cemetery. As is traditional, the service will be conducted by the local American Legion Post 56.
Though conducted by members of Post 56, this is a communitywide event that could not take place without local volunteers. The focus of the volunteer effort is flag placement and removal at each veteran’s grave.
With the end of World War II in Europe, letters from American families seeking information about their loved ones began arriving at town halls across the southern Netherlands. Canadian’s annual communitywide Memorial Day ceremony will be held on Monday, May 27, at 11 am. This is one of Canadian’s most important events, honoring generations of men and women of Hemphill County who served in the defense of their country.
As in years past, Canadian’s American Legion Post 56 will conduct this year’s ceremony, which will be held at Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery.
