Randy Lee Porter, 62, of Canadian formally of Perryton went to meet Jesus Wednesday, August 21, 2024, in Canadian.
A family memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian.
AMARILLO—On June 15, 2023, the town of Perryton was hit by an EF-3 tornado, killing three people, and causing millions of dollars in damage, including the Perryton Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services station.
Herminia Medina, cherished wife, mother, Mimi, sister, and friend, passed away on August 5, 2024, at the age of 56. She was born on November 3, 1967, in Chihuahua, Mexico, Herminia was the beloved daughter of Abel Hernandez and Rosa Silva Hernandez.
Herminia 's journey brought her to Perryton, Texas, where she graduated from Perryton High School and built a life of love and devotion. On September 12, 1987, she married, Jose Antonio Medina.
Leslie Kirk Courson was born on August 28, 1956 in Pampa, Texas to Harold Courson and Joyce (Denny) Doran. He graduated from Broken Arrow High School and The University of Texas in Austin. He spent as much time honing his water-skiing talents and perfecting his skills on the skeet and trap range as he did on campus. Adulthood was calling, so he left Austin, donned a suit and tie and went to work for Courson Oil & Gas in 1984, where he remained until his death operating multiple oil and gas companies.

Both the Wildcat Varsity and Junior High teams won the meet. Out of 20 runners competing, 18 ran their personal best, reported Coach Jay McCook, who concluded, “Outstanding day for the Wildcats.”

PERRYTON--Officials with the City of Perryton and Ochiltree County Emergency Management released the following tornado recovery update. In addition, the Perryton City Council will conduct its regular public meeting at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, August 15, to discuss the agenda posted at left on this page.
The Canadian Church of Christ’s traditional GO! Weekend—now in its eighth year of community-wide clean-up projects here—is packing up the shovels and work gloves and heading up US 83 this year to help the tornado-stricken town of Perryton. The date that was set for Canadian’s GO! Weekend—Saturday, July 22—has now been dedicated to Perryton’s recovery.
