I was first served this dish at a party in Houston, and the following day, I went to my favorite bookstore, housed in an old movie theatre, and bought The Silver Palate Cookbook. I have prepared many recipes from this book—my favorite, Chicken Marbella, is delicious served hot or at room temperature. Because it is such a spectacular party dish, this recipe serves 10-12 but can be divided to make a smaller amount if you wish. But I am telling you, don’t do it—it is even better the next day!

Canadian High School Senior Grant McCook (#10) was named the 2019-20 All-District 1-3A MVP. This year’s Offensive MVP went to Nathan Welch of Bushland. Acqtavian Baty, a junior from Dimmitt, was selected as Defensive MVP. River Road senior Malikih Gillum was named the Newcomer of the Year Joining McCook on the 2020 All-District team are juniorJosh Colwell (#00), and seniors Bill Koetting (#30) and Saul Escamilla (#05).

We’re OK. No panic here yet over the COVID -19 virus. It’s spring break for small towns, San Angelo, and Angelo State University. All is quiet on the western fringe of the state.
