Summar Wilson earns special honor at West Texas Ranch Rodeo
Summar Wilson recently competed in the West Texas Ranch Rodeo National Anthem Contest, and was named Reserve Champion for her performance of the National Anthem. Summar competed against students in grades 3 through 12.
As a result of this achievement, she has been invited to perform at the first National Women's Ranch Rodeo in Amarillo. She will be opening the event tonight at the Civic Center by singing the National Anthem.
Following Saturday's Youth Ranch Rodeo, a "youth concert in the dirt" will be held. As one of the top 10 finishers, Summer will have the opportunity to perform one of her own songs during the concert. "She is naturally talented," said her grandmother, Diana Wilson. "I taught her myself until last year when we hired a vocal coach, Ariel Lohberger, to help her learn to mix vocals."
Summar is a tenth-grader at Canadian High School, and has been singing since she was four years old. She made her debut performance several years ago for her fourth-grade classmates.
Summar is the daughter of Elbie Dean and the late Marquita Wilson. Her grandparents are Elbie and Diana Wilson.
