Local citizens invited to weigh in on City Hall renovation in public forum
A called City Council meeting will be held at 5:30 pm this Wednesday, July 30, to receive public comment on the proposed renovation of the City Hall and Municipal Auditorium, as well as possible alternative sites and use of the Visitors’ Center, and a potential bond election.
The forum will include an introduction by Mayor Terrill Bartlett, and presentations by the Project Architect, City Staff and Bond Financial Advisors.
Those wishing to address the Council are asked to complete a card (shown above) prior to the start of the meeting, stating their name, name of the group or organization they represent, and basic contact information. Those filling out the cards also have the opportunity to indicate their support or opposition to the proposed renovation.
The card can be picked up at the City Hall business office any time in advance of Wednesday’s meeting, or will be available prior to the start of the meeting. The City Auditorium will be open at 5 pm in order to allow citizens to sign up.
Mayor Bartlett will ask those wishing to address the Council to do so at the appropriate time. All speakers are asked to approach the stand, state their name and address for the record, and discuss the specific agenda item or topic of interest. All comments should be directed to the Mayor.
No official action will be taken by the Council during Wednesday’s meeting, which is intended to give the public an opportunity to address the proposed restoration of Canadian’s historic City Hall and Municipal Auditorium. Following the public comments, the Council may have the item placed on a future agenda for action, refer the item to the Council or a subcommittee for further study, or refer the item to staff for study or conclusion.
