Members of the local Church of Christ are preparing for Go! Weekend 2025—the annual community-wide fix-up, clean-up, rebuild, repair, revive and beautify project, which this year celebrates its 10th anniversary in Canadian. The annual day-long gathering is set for next Saturday, July 19.

Church member Cody Mathews is organizing this year’s project, walking in the footsteps of former pastor Jake Perkins, who moved south last year to become Senior Minister at Conroe’s Grace Crossing Church.

“Right now, we have four really good projects,” Mathews said. “We are making a big push to get people to sign up [to help]. As of now, I’m hesitant to take on any more projects. I don’t know if I’ll have enough people.”

“We would like this to be a community effort,” he added. “Anybody who wants to help, I would welcome. Volunteers would be great.”

Mathews has already lined up several jobs around town, including installing new fencing at one home, cutting down and removing a 70’ tree, and cleanup, tree and trash removal at another home.

Mathews also said he welcomes suggestions of other projects to add to the list. “We will always take new ideas, he said. “If I feel I have the manpower and budget, I will take it on. If not, we can always do them next year.”

“One of the things I love about this ministry in particular is that we don’t go around asking for money,” Mathews said. “We will be out in the community [next weekend], loving on people, trying to show Jesus with our own feet and hands.”

Anyone who has a project they need help with, and anyone who is willing to pull on some work gloves and pitch in, is asked to contact Cody Mathews at 806.323.2158, or use the QR Code above to submit your name and information.
