AUGUST 27, 2024—Let’s beef up the blood supply! Donors who give blood at Coffee Memorial Blood Center on Thursday, August 29, or Friday, August 30, will receive an all-beef hot dog and be entered for a chance to win a $250 restaurant gift card.

Successful donors will also receive not one, but two limited-edition T-shirts: a Halloween-themed “Peoplejuice” T-shirt and a “Bigfoot Returns” T-shirt, plus one free bundtlet from Nothing Bundt Cakes.

“Although we have fun with this event, saving the lives of our family, friends and neighbors is a serious matter,” said Dr. John Armitage, president and CEO of Coffee Memorial Blood Center. “We are grateful for our donors who take time before Labor Day weekend to help us prepare for any emergency that may occur.”

Anyone who is healthy and 16 years old* or older can give blood. Blood can be donated every 56 days and platelets can be given as often as every seven days, up to 24 times a year.

Appointments to donate can be made online at obi.org or by calling 877.340.8777.

*16-year-olds must weigh at least 125 pounds and provide signed parental permission; 17-year-olds must weigh at least 125 pounds; 18+ year-olds must weigh at least 110 pounds. Photo ID required.

ABOUT COFFEE MEMORIAL BLOOD CENTER: Coffee Memorial Blood Center is part of Our Blood Institute, the sixth-largest independent blood center in the nation, with 17 donor centers in Oklahoma, Arkansas and Texas. CMBC provides blood to all major hospitals in the High Plains region.

NOTE: Canadian donors are reminded that a community blood drive will be held here on Thursday, September 12, from 1-6 pm at the Church of Christ Fellowship Hall. Donations made during this blood drive will go to support Travis Francis, who was recently seriously injured in an industrial accident, has undergone extensive surgery, and is now receiving physical therapy and is improving daily, according to reports posted by his wife, Tessa.
