The Lady Cat Varsity cross-country team won Canadian’s Annual Cross Country Meet here last Saturday for the third straight year. Konnar McClendon set a new course record with a blistering time of 10:59.
Finishing in second place, reported Coach Aaron Marks, was traditional powerhouse Gruver Lady Greyhounds.
Canadian’s Variety Girls team is made up of Konnar McClendon, Arizona Black, Elizabeth Guerrero, Brooklyn Beedy, Payton Lee, Kimora Morales, and Kate Escarcega.
Canadian’s Lady Cat softball team engineered a 19-0 shutout against Booker here at home on Thursday. The Lady Cats scored early and often in the game, putting up 3 points in the first inning, doubling that score in the second, running the bases for 8 more points in the third and 5 more in the fourth.
In five innings of play, the Lady Kiowas were scoreless. Junior Lady Cat pitcher Jessa Bell allowed only one hit and struck-out 11 batters.
Canadian’s Lady Cats cross-country team won second-place overall on Saturday at the prestigious Lubbock Invitational at Mae Simmons Park. They were outpaced only by Holliday’s No. 1 Lady Eagles.
Konnar McClendon crossed the finish line in 2nd place overall, followed by Lady Cats Elizabeth Guerrero, 10th, and Arionna Black, 13th, among the top-15 finishers. Maile Quisenberry, Payton Lee, Brooklyn Beedy and Landry Appel rounded out the team.
Canadian Lady Cats stole the lead late in the game in an 8-4 home field victory over Dimmitt Varsity Bobbies on Saturday, March 25. The game was tied at four with Canadian Lady Cats batting in the bottom of the fifth when Miranda Nunez singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
Leah Moreno led the Lady Cats to victory by driving in four runs. Moreno went 2-for-3 at the plate, and drove in runs on a homer in the third and a double in the fifth.
