CHS athletes Cook, Pennington and Koetting will compete tomorrow in State Track & Field Meet

Three Canadian athletes will compete this Friday in the Texas UIL State Track & Field Meet in Austin.

Salym Cook and Rhet Pennington are each making their return trips to 
Mike A. Myers Stadium this weekend—Cook, to compete in the final track meet of her high school career. Joining them will be first-time state qualifier Bill Koetting.

All three qualified for state with medal-winning performances at the Regional meet two weekends ago.

Wildcats tussle with Tigers one more time

It’s December, the No. 3 Wildcats (13-1) are in the state football semifinals for the fifth-consecutive year, and for the third-straight season they will face the undefeated No. 2 Gunter Tigers (14-0).
This familiarity has become commonplace in the Panhandle. For half a decade, the Wildcats have been all but assured as one of the final four teams left standing. What’s unfamiliar territory for Canadian is the role of the underdog.

Ante-nope: Wildcats deny Abernathy with a capital D

The No. 3 Wildcats (13-1) found a new way to win Thursday night as they faced the Abernathy Antelopes (12-2) in the state quarterfinal. Canadian was crowned quarterfinal champions on the shoulders of the season’s best defensive performance, winning 19-7 at Dick Bivins Stadium, in Amarillo.
