Lady Cat 7th, 8th track teams win Borger meet Thursday

Eight junior high/middle schools competed at the Borger track meet on Thursday, March 5. The CMS 7th-grade girls and 8th-grade girls teams both took first place with 162 points and 137 points, respectively. The 7th-grade boys placed second in the meet with 101 points, and the 8th-grade boys also came in second with 90 points. The other competing teams were Borger, Dalhart, Perryton, Bushland, Stratford, Friona, and Boys Ranch.

Lady Cats win 5 of 6 games at Wichita Falls Softball Tournament

Coming off of the first victory in the program’s history, the Canadian Lady Cat softball team headed down to Wichita Falls to participate in a tournament. They did much more than participate, however, dominating the field and winning five of six games with their only loss coming from Childress. The Lady Cats beat Hirschi, Graford, Wichita Falls HS, Bryson, and Electra to take second place in the tournament, and brought home their first medals. Leading hitters were Ashleigh Rowden, Jazmin Jara, and Paula Valenzuela. Last Monday, the Lady Cats lost to Childress again, but they will be at the Pampa Tournament this Friday and Saturday, March 6-7.

Lady Cat golf team wins Amarillo Invitational Thursday

Canadian High School golfers competed Thursday, Feb. 27, in the Amarillo Invitational meet, held at the Ross Rogers Wild Horse Golf Course. The Lady Cat varsity improved on last week’s third-place showing at Burkburnett, claiming first-place overall among the seven-team competition. The Wildcat A-team placed fourth overall.

The Lady Cats had a combined score of 411. Childress was second with 414, and Quanah third with 421.

CHS tennis team has strong showing in Amarillo Thursday

The Canadian Tennis Tournament hosted 12 different schools from the Texas Panhandle on Thursday, in an event held—due to weather delays—at the Amarillo Tennis Center. Coach Tim Fletcher reported that over 166 matches were played in all divisions, with around 200 students participating—46 of those from Canadian.

CMS Lady Cats win Wheeler Track Meet

The CMS seventh-grade girls won the Wheeler track meet with 246 points. Spearman came in second with 115 points. The eighth-grade girls also took first with 190 points, with Wellington in second place with 174.5 points.

Canadian’s 3rd- and 4th-grade boys basketball team beat the Shamrock A-Team 16-13 in last Saturday’s Shamrock Basketball Tournament to win the tournament.
