Three sisters carried on their family heritage in style with top performances in the Junior Rodeo Cowboys Association this year. Scarlett Thomas, Ivy Erickson and Elle Erickson are the granddaughters of Bill and Susan Morris, who raised and trained world-champion Quarter Horses in the Gem Community for decades before Bill’s death in 2018.

During the 2025 rodeo season, Scarlett Thomas, Ivy Erickson and Elle Erickson each brought home numerous titles while competing in JRCA events throughout the Texas Panhandle.

In the finals, held July 10-12 in Levelland, Scarlett was crowned the 9-11 Girls Barrel Racing Champ and Reserve Year-End Champion, bringing home two new buckles, a buckle display case, halters and several awards.

Ivy won the 9-11 Girls All-Around Year-End Champion and All-Around Finals Champion, as well as titles in Pole-Bending and Goat-Tying, and the Reserve Year-End Goat-Tying Champion. She earned two new custom-made Slone Saddles, as well as four new buckles. Ivy was also received the JRCA Board of Directors’ Sportsmanship Award.

Elle competed in the 12-14 Girls Breakaway Roping, winning Round 1 with a smoking 3.31-second run. She finished fourth in the Finals average. Elle started the year in 11th-place, and climbed to 5th overall at year’s end.

“The girls are proud, humble, and ready for the next season,” reported their parents, Everett and Amie Morris-Erickson.
