Canadian Middle School is celebrating a pair of statewide honors that highlight what families and staff see every day inside its classrooms.
The campus has been named to the 2025 Honor Roll of top performing schools in Texas and has also been recognized as one of the Best Middle Schools by U.S. News & World Report. Together, the recognitions reflect strong academic performance, student growth and a continued focus on helping every student succeed.
The Honor Roll distinction is based on student performance on the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness from 2024 through 2025. Schools selected for the list demonstrate consistently high levels of academic achievement, growth over time and progress in closing achievement gaps among student groups. Canadian Middle School did not apply for the award. The campus was identified based on its results.
Canadian Middle School was also named one of the Best Middle Schools by U.S. News & World Report, a national ranking that evaluates schools based largely on state assessment performance in core subjects such as reading and math. Schools that earn the designation perform in the top tier of their state.
Mrs. Longoria said the recognition belongs to the entire school community.
“I want to emphasize that this recognition belongs first and foremost to our students and teachers. Their work ethic, high standards, perseverance, and dedication to growth are the true foundation of this achievement. Our teachers show up each day committed to helping every child learn, grow, and believe in their own potential. Our students demonstrate resilience, curiosity, and the determination to improve themselves each and every day.”
Superintendent Dr. Julia McMains said the honors reflect both high expectations and strong relationships across the district.
“At Canadian ISD, we believe every child deserves every chance to succeed,” McMains said. “These recognitions reflect the daily commitment of our teachers, the leadership of our campus administrators and the partnership we share with families. I am incredibly proud of Canadian Middle School and the culture of high expectations and support that defines this campus.”
This success also begins long before middle school. The strong foundations built by our Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten teachers—and all of our elementary educators—are essential. Without those early investments in learning, character, and confidence, Canadian Middle School could not be where it is today. This recognition reflects the collective effort of Canadian ISD as a whole.
For Canadian ISD, the dual honors serve as affirmation that the district’s focus on academic excellence and student support is making a difference. And at Canadian Middle School, that difference is not just reflected in rankings. It is felt in the steady confidence building inside each classroom and in the belief, shared by students and staff alike, that hard work leads somewhere.
