Body

Terry Gene Wayne, 60 of Canadian, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2026, in Canadian, surrounded by his loving family.

A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held from 3-5 pm on Saturday, May 2, at the Heritage Room at Mesa View Sr. Living. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian.

Terry Wayne was born February 28, 1966, in Enid, Oklahoma, to Douglass Wayne and Brenda Mitchell. He grew up in Canadian and always lived in the area.

Terry was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan! He was an animal advocate, known for rescuing them, not tolerating anyone harming an animal. Terry loved his English Bulldogs and cats. He loved to grill “BIG” for his family and friends on the back porch or on camping and fishing trips. Terry worked for the City of Canadian and the Texas Highway Department.

Terry always wanted the last word: he was a protector for his family and helped them learn many life lessons. Terry had great quotes that got the point across: “You’re not a candy factory…don’t sugar coat it,” and a family favorite, “Love you big like the sky!”

Terry was preceded in death by his parents: Douglass Wayne, Richard and Brenda Farquar; by his grandparents, Dolly and Allie Mitchell; and by his niece, Kami Minick, and nephews, B.J. Minick and Billy Wayne.

Survivors include his life companion, Shelley Wayne of Canadian; four children: Johnathan Wayne, Jason Wayne of Denison, Steven Wayne of Amarillo and Alli Wayne of Canadian; sisters Karen Voorhees and husband Barry of Canadian, and Rikki Farquar of Amarillo; twin brother Jerry Wayne of Canadian; niece Abbi Voorhees, and nephew Bruce Wayne.
