Susan Marie Turner was born May 4, 1958, to Danny and Eleanor (Corky) Foster in Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip, South Dakota. She moved to Darrouzett, Texas, as a young girl. She graduated with the Class of 1976 at Darrouzett High School, and worked in the restaurant industry for many years. 

She passed unexpectedly on August 8, 2025.

She married Edward Messner and had two sons. They lived at the Messner Farm for 41 years. In 2005, she met her second husband, Robert Turner (Butch). She enjoyed beautiful sunrises and good old country music. She always had a large Diet Coke with extra, extra ice. Grandma always had the best fashion shows with the grandkids and made everyone the most beautiful scrapbooks.

She was preceded in death by Danny Foster, Eleanor May Foster, Edward Messner and Robert (Butch) Turner.

She is survived by her two sons, Darryl and Kimberly Messner of Amarillo, and Donnie and Jamie Messner of Canadian; by her five grandkids, Kaitlyn Benton of Amarillo, Arren and Luis Navarrete of Spring, Annie Messner and Brandon Russell of Canadian, and Ellsie Messner and Eli Messner, both of Canadian; by a precious great-granddaughter, Lilah; by sister Debbie and Dickie Babitzke, sister Karen and Joe Armstrong, and brother Darryl (Buzz) Foster of Darrouzett, as well as numerous nieces nephews cousins and dear friends who will miss her greatly. 

A celebration of life will be held on September 6, 2025, at 10:30 am at the First Baptist Church, 110 Santa Fe, Darrouzett.
