State Rep. Ken King signals 2022 re-election bid
State Rep. Ken King today announced that he is running for re-election to the Texas House of Representatives in House District 88. The newly passed district includes Andrews, Bailey, Briscoe, Castro, Childress, Cochran, Collingsworth, Donley, Gaines, Gray, Hale, Hall, Hemphill, Hockley, Lamb, Roberts, Swisher, Wheeler, and Yoakum counties.
“It has been my honor to represent conservative values in the Texas House,” said King. “We had another great session, but there is still work to do. We must continue to increase border security, continue our progress in defending innocent life, lower taxes, protect the Second Amendment, and fight back against the spread of harmful socialist agendas like critical race theory.”
Ken King played a pivotal role in the 87th legislative session earlier this year, dubbed by the media as “the most conservative session in Texas State History.” King worked hard to help increase border security funding, pass constitutional carry, pass election integrity reform, and many other strong conservative bills.
During this legislative session, King served as the chairman for the Committee on Culture, Recreation, and Tourism, which oversees agencies such as the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, the Texas Historical Commission, and the Texas Commission on the Arts. Leading this committee, King worked on legislation that promoted state parks, and hunting and fishing; secured funding opportunities for local libraries; and studied the impact of COVID-19 on the state’s tourism industry.
King continued his support of women’s health by passing a bill that requires health insurance to cover any ovarian cancer screening approved by the FDA. King also passed legislation to create the Texas Commission on Virtual Education. This was a direct result of the implications that COVID-19 had on schools in the state of Texas. He continued his work on public education issues affecting all students and teachers across the great state of Texas.
King runs energy service businesses and is the cofounder of the KK-125 Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation. Ken and his wife, Robin, live in Canadian, and are the proud parents of two children.
