Canadian VFD emptied the fire station last Friday in response to back-to-back wildfires— the first of which was reported around 1 pm on SH 33 and CR 19.

Alarms sounded as northerly 21-mph winds, gusting up to 32 mph, brought firefighters from Gem City and Canadian to the scene. Canadian Fire Chief Scott Brewster said the fire occurred in a CRP field near an oilfield location.
