Roberta Alene (Sutton) Cannon was born in Arnett, Oklahoma on October 10, 1937 and passed from this life May 11, 2026 at the age of 88 years, 7 months and 1 day. She was the eldest child of Lester Leon and Ethel (McCumber) Sutton.

Family directed memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 30, at 10:30 am at Arnett Methodist Church in Arnett. Cremation and arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Wheeler.

Roberta was a country girl through and through. As a kid, her dad introduced her to all things ranching and she was hooked. Her kindness and love of all animals filled her heart with happiness and love. Ranch life was her true passion.

She loved working outside on the ranch, tending to the cows and enjoying nature. In addition to her love of cattle, cats were her love language. She had many special kitties through the years and cherished each and every one in their own special ways. After the loss of her husband A.R., she had the opportunity to travel around for a few years with a very dear friend. They explored many places and her love of nature showed in her travels. From the mountains of Colorado to the Texas coast in Corpus Christi they explored. Their travels also led them to the west coast in California. They enjoyed fishing adventures, using her special fishing pole, and whatever nature had to offer. Her adventurous spirit always shown through.

She was a sparky ornery lady that loved to get into mischief that could easily result in much laughter and joy. She enjoyed polka music and old country jams. Roberta was a lady of simplicity. A small home, lots of God's green earth to roam, and animals to love. She was a lady at peace doing her own thing on her own time. Roberta loved her family and enjoyed her time with those she loved.

Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse A.R. Cannon, son Dennis Gill, daughter Kathy James, granddaughter Casey James, son-in-law Lonnie Trout, sister-in-law Belva Sutton, aunt Doris Hicks, cousin Rory Hicks, and great-niece Krista Dittmer.
