Four Canadian High School students will head to Austin May 19-20 for the 3A Academic UIL State Championship Meet after competing at regionals April 25-26.
CHS sent 26 students to compete in the 3A Region 1 Academic UIL Meet, but only the top three individuals in each event, and the top team in team events, move on.
State qualifiers include:
Headline Writing: 1st place, Rebekah Avila; 3rd place, Hannah Ortega
Computer Science: 1st place, Tate Wilhelm
Social Studies: 3rd place, Elyse Beck
Others who placed at the meet but did not advance are:
Feature Writing: 4th place, Rene Osornio
Computer Science: 2nd place team, Tate Wilhelm, Charlie Hanes, Emmanuel Jimenez, and Joseph Dominguez
Current Issues and Events: 4th place, Julian Dominguez
