Canadian’s Lady Wildcat Cross-Country team kicked off the season on Saturday with the annual Canyon Chicken Run. 

Eight girls ran on two different teams, reported Coach Aaron Marks. Team 1—whose members were Konnar McClendon, Elizabeth Guerrero, Payton Lee and Arionna Black—won second overall in its division. 

Team 2 was made up of Kate Escarcega, Esmeriah Shields, Jackie Lerma and Kimora Morales.

“Both teams ran very well in tough conditions!” Coach Marks said, adding that Canadian’s home meet will be held this Saturday, August 31, at Hemphill County’s Jones Pavilion. The first race will start at 9 am.
