Panhandle Wildlife Conference rescheduled for Feb. 1-2 in Lubbock

LUBBOCK – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD), the Department of Natural Resources Management at Texas Tech University and the Texas Wildlife Association have rescheduled the Panhandle Wildlife Conference for Feb. 1-2, 2024, at Texas Tech University’s National Ranching Heritage Center in Lubbock.

The conference will be the first of its kind since the 1990s and will explore the diverse landscape and wildlife of the Texas Panhandle, a region rich in both history and natural resources.

Legal groups sue to stop new immigration law

The ink was barely dry on a law signed by Gov. Greg Abbott that makes unauthorized entry into the United States a state crime before a lawsuit was filed by civil rights groups and El Paso County challenging its constitutionality. The Austin American-Statesman reported the suit was filed in an Austin federal court by the ACLU and two immigrant advocacy groups on behalf of the county.

RRC blankets Texas for major winter weatherization inspections

AUSTIN – December has been a very busy month for inspectors in RRC’s Critical Infrastructure Division (CID). Starting in early December inspectors began weatherization inspections at hundreds of critical natural gas facilities in different regions of the state to ensure gas supply is protected for Texans this winter season.

In their December 7 meeting, the Canadian ISD Board of Trustees received reports on cybersecurity issues with the District’s network that were addressed; were informed of off-campus problems with students accessing inappropriate content on their school devices, and how those problems were being addressed; and received an update on repairs to the CHS Auxiliary Gymnasium and to the track.
