Canadian native Ben Arbuckle has been making big news around the Division I college football scene over the past week. Arbuckle, a 2014 Canadian High School graduate, and former standout quarterback of the Wildcats, is expected to be the next Washington State University offensive coordinator after just one season at Western Kentucky.

Canadian’s Lady Cat basketball team will head to the Christmas break with some momentum after beating Lubbock Trinity 65-27 on the road Monday.

After falling in a tough 47-45 clash versus Clarendon on Friday, Canadian was able to rebound and head to a much-needed break with a convincing victory. The Lady Cats never trailed Trinity, opening the game with a 21-8 run and owning a dominating 34-15 advantage by halftime.

As expected the Canadian Wildcat football team dominated the 3-3A Division II All-District Team which was released over the weekend. The Wildcats went 12-3 overall in 2022, capturing their eighth district championship in nine years as well as making their eighth appearance in the state semifinals in the past nine years.

Canadian and Gunter added another chapter to what’s been one of the best Texas High School football playoff rivalries going on seven years Friday night at Abilene Christian’s Wildcat Stadium. As expected by many, this epic Class 3A Division II state semifinal between powerful programs came down to the wire.

It was an up-and-down week in more ways than one for the Canadian Lady Cats. Let’s start with the positive news.

After a year hiatus, one of the most unique rivalries in the Texas High School football playoffs going on a near decade picks back up when No. 4 Canadian battles No. 1 Gunter at 6 pm on Friday on Anthony Field at Wildcat Stadium in Abilene.

Canadian had yet another outstanding performance in all phases of a 45-10 thumping of the Wall Hawks at Lubbock-Cooper’s Pirate Stadium on Friday night. Once again, the Wildcats are the kings of Region I as Canadian heads to the UIL state semifinals for the eighth time in nine years to take on familiar rival Gunter.
