FOURTEEN PROPOSITIONS are on the November 7 ballot to amend the Texas Constitution.  I have read the Voter Guide of the League of Women Voters of Texas (https://www.lwvtexas.org/) setting forth arguments for and against each amendment.  I will vote all but Proposition 4 that would allow the legislature to increase the homestead exemption from $40,000 to $100,000 for school district taxation.  In future years, this could significantly decrease the revenue of most small school districts.

Texas cities have many homes valued at well over $100,000 each, and their voters will probably favor the amendment.  In rural Texas, most homes are valued under $100,000 each and would not be subject to school district taxes if the amendment passes statewide.
