Kaylee Scates and Sandro Sanchez of Amarillo were united in marriage at 6 o’clock on the evening of April 8, 2023, in a double ring ceremony held at the Jones Pavilion in Canadian. Kyler Scates of San Marcos, brother of the bride, officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Malcolm and Pam Scates of Canadian. A 2022 Canadian High School graduate, she is pursuing a nursing degree specializing in neonatal intensive care and skilled wound care, and has attended WTAMU and Amarillo College. She is employed by Good Life Memory Care Center as a caregiver.

The bridegroom is the son of Norma and Sandro Sanchez-Navarro of Canadian. He is a 2021 Canadian High School graduate. He is employed by Gene Messer Ford as a mechanic.

The bride’s father gave her away. The music was a modern love mix. Jimmy Morgan of Wheeler recited the Wedding Prayer.

The Maid of Honor was Kelsey Banuelos of Canadian, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Maddie Brewster of Canadian, Taylor Munsell of Enid, Oklahoma, Kylee Sullivan of Boyd, Texas, and Addison Bylinowski of Canadian.

Jacob Velasquez of Canadian served as Best Man. Groomsmen were Shawn Urton of Amarillo, and Osvaldo Dominguez and Carlos Ochoa of Canadian. Flower girls were Leilani and Elmarie Nolasco, the groom’s nieces; and Teresa Elaina Banuelos, the bride’s niece. Forrest Munsell, the son of a bridesmaid, served as the ring bearer.

Honorary attendants were Heidy Sanchez, sister of the groom; Lorenzo Nolasco, brother-in-law of the groom; Delia Guerrero and Guillermo Navarro, grandparents of the groom; and G.D. and Norma Piersall, grandparents of the bride.

The bride’s gown was pale ivory, laced with pink floral accents to pay homage to her late grandmother Elaine’s bubblegum pink wedding dress; a bow representing something “old” was cut from it and sewn to the bride’s dress. The bride carried a red and pink bouquet with burlap accents. The bridesmaids were attired in dark red evening gowns and carried feather and baby’s breath bouquets.

The groom wore a red tux jacket with a black shirt, blue jeans, and a black cowboy hat. His groomsmen were attired in dark red shirts with blue jeans and black cowboy hats.

The venue was decorated with a Boho mix of warm earthy colors with hanging pink flower sprays tied together with baby’s breath, feathers and burlap with gold accents. Immediately following the wedding ceremony, a reception was held with champagne toasts and traditional cake cutting, followed by a dinner and dance.

After a wedding trip to Xcaret, Mexico, the couple lives in Amarillo, until the good Lord directs them elsewhere.
