It’s that time of year for young fisherguys and gals! The Children’s Fishing Tournament 2023 will take place on Saturday, June 3, at Lake Fryer in Ochiltree County. The event is hosted annually by the Wolf Creek Improvement Board.

No permits will be needed that day. It is a free fishing day for all ages. Registration begins at 8 am at the pavilion located east of The Lobo restaurant. There is a fee of $1 per contestant. All proceeds are dedicated for improvements to the lake.

The tournament ends at noon, with the awards presented at 1 pm. A limited number of fishing poles and t-shirts will be available. Contestants are encouraged to bring their own poles, if possible.

Prizes will be awarded in three age groups: ages 3 to 6; ages 7 to 10; and ages 11 to 14. There also will be “All Ages” prizes for Largest Fish; Smallest Fish; Ugliest Fish; First Turtle; Most Unusual Thing Found in the Park; and Contestant Who Traveled the Furthest.
