Now that school is out for summer (cue Alice Cooper’s legendary song) and you probably have nowhere to go on vacation, why not come visit your local museum? We are back open full time, 9 am-12 pm and 1 pm-5 pm, Tuesdays through Fridays, and 10 am-2 pm on Saturdays. Come learn about the history of Canadian and Hemphill County in an air-conditioned space. We even have scavenger hunts available for children of all ages. Admission is FREE! Michael Longhofer’s art show titled, Eclectic II, is still on display in our gallery room. The show will remain in our gallery room until the end of August. His works are very different than any-thing else we have shown. I know you will enjoy it!

Kay Brown brought by a large pot of tortilla soup with all the fixings for us to enjoy. It was wonderful, and I called the next day for the recipe. She told me the original recipe came from Linda Thrasher, and over the years, she has added ingredients to make it a family favorite. I like the fact that it was richly flavored without being too salty. The addition of tortilla strips and cheese give you just the right amount of salt.
