On Friday, Oct. 16, a 2015 Buick Encore traveling south on Third Street, entered the intersection at Main. The driver failed to yield the right-of-way to an eastbound Ford pickup, driven by a city of Canadian employee. The Buick broadsided the pickup. The collision caused minimal damage to the pickup, and extensive damage to the front of the Buick. No injuries were reported as a result of the accident. Firefighters from several area fire departments were dispatched Sunday afternoon to provide mutual aid to a wildfire in Roberts County, which, at last report burned 11,520 acres of land, threatened 10 structures and two ranch compounds, and temporarily closed FM 283.

As expected, the No. 1-ranked Canadian Wildcats jumped out to a fast and furious start and never looked back, hammering Highland Park 81-6 in a District 3-3A Division II contest Friday night at Hornet Stadium.
