Piano Trio Performance, Faculty Recital Launch WT School of Music’s Concert Season

CANYON — An internationally regarded cellist will join two West Texas A&M University musicians for a special concert Aug. 27.

Dr. Christoph Wagner, assistant professor of cello and head of strings at the University of New Mexico, will join WT’s Dr. Choong-ha Nam, professor of piano, and Dr. Rossitza Goza, Harrington lecturer in violin, for a piano trio concert.

Short Story ‘Ogallala Aquifer’ in Spotlight for WT’s Great Books Series in November

CANYON, Texas — West Texas A&M University’s Great Books Series will continue in November with a short story about one of the region’s most valuable resources.

Dr. Ryan Brooks, associate professor English in WT’s Department of English, Philosophy and Modern Languages, will lead the discussion of Terese Svoboda’s “Ogallala Aquifer” from her 2019 collection “Great American Desert.”

WTA&MU releases names of graduates, President’s and Dean’s Lists honorees

CANYON — The final tally is 1,129 graduates for West Texas A&M University’s Class of May 2024. West Texas A&M University this week officially released its list of 2024 graduates, as well as the names of students who earned President’s and Dean’s list honors. 

Overall, the University awarded 808 baccalaureate degrees and 321 master’s degrees to spring graduates at the May 13 commencement ceremonies, following procedural confirmation from the University’s seven deans.

Matching donations sought for scholarship fund established to honor WT’s Kimberly Dudley

CANYON—Donors may contribute to a scholarship fund established in honor of a West Texas A&M University athlete and coach turned administrator.

An anonymous donor has challenged donors to endow the Coach Kimberly Dudley Cross-Country Scholarship, offering to match contributions one-for-one up to $25,000. If the match is met in full, the endowment will provide $2,000 annually in perpetuity to assist members of the Lady Buff Cross-Country team.

WTAMU 2024 Graduates to receive diplomas May 11

Next Saturday, May 11, Canadian High School alumnae (Class of 2020) Violeta and Jazmin Talavera will be among 1,500 students who will receive their diplomas in commencement ceremonies at West Texas A&M University.

The two sisters are both graduates of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. They have been hired at Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo, where Violeta will be work in NICU and Jazmin in Med-Surge.
